Vincent's Chair create a music experience that defies stylistic classification. Lyrical compositions reveal unexpected stories couched in honest musicianship with delicate tastes of the jazz, folk and pop idioms.Influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Sting, Paul Simon and Pat Metheny, the trio produce music which might best be described as Art House music.Vincent's Chair Trio formed in 2006 at the invitation to perform at Romania's premier music festival, EUROPAfest. Since that time audiences have delighted in the unpretentious revelation of quirky, touching stories penned by the unassuming and surprisingly witty Kathie Renner, the tasteful brilliance of Hugh Stuckey, and the constant beauty of the viola by Karen De Nardi. The intimate set up of guitar, viola and voice/keyboard, gives perfect balance to the delicate, yet, dynamic interplay between musicians as they draw you into an exquisite journey of the senses.All three musicians are graduates of the Elder Conservatorium of Adelaide University, and together they have recorded two CDs, Stretch (2007) and Its Time (2010), and have been captivating audiences in performance across Australia and abroad including the acclaimed Adelaide Cabaret Festival, several Adelaide Fringe festivals, 2009 East End Jazz Festival, as well as interstate performances in Sydney and Melbourne.Singer-songwriter, Kathie Renner, has been singing and writing for more than twenty years. She is the main writer for Vincent's Chair, and her voice is an instrument of uncommon beauty and expressiveness that speaks for itself. In 2005 she was a finalist in the Australian National Songwriting Contest, and has recorded several CDs, both as a soloist and with Vincent's Chair.Hugh Stuckey, is one of the finest young guitarists in Australia, having been a finalist in the 2007 Wangaratta Jazz Festival. He is highly regarded for his innovative and sensitive playing.Violist, Karen De Nardi, has performed with numerous ensembles and notable performers. She has composed several works for string quartet and string ensembles.
